These Christmas tarts are mince pies with a twist - a nutty frangipane filling replaces some of the traditional mincemeat and they're topped with a lovely looking icing. Thinly roll out the pastry on a floured surface. The syrupy-sweet filling of these mince pies is infused with port and brandy and there's a gentle tartness from the mixed peel and a pleasingly buttery aroma from the pastry. Mince pies are delicious served hot or cold, on their own or with brandy butter, or with cream or even a good vanilla ice cream.
